Need a hands free kit for my '99 CLK. At the moment got a non-blue tooth Nokia (company phone), would it be cheaper to get a blue tooth phone and hands free speaker system or get the proper fitted kit that goes through the stereo. Is the MB Nokia system back fittable and what type of price am I looking at?

Thanks

MB kit is the most expensive option by a long way, if its even possible.
To get a fitted kit specifically for your phone will be around £200-£250 but once you change the phone its useless and if the phone isn't bluetooth, its got to be pretty old anyway.
Nokia do the CK7W pop-port.(around £70 plus fitting) the idea is that the pop port will be compatible between most nokia phones. the port plugs into the cradle and you just swap the cradle for one that fits the phone. (rather like the MB kits only £15 for a new cradle rather than the £130 MB charge!). The kit also has bluetooth so you don't have to have a cradle at all if you choose and you can use it with other makes of phone.
Either way, I'd ditch the phone and get a bluetooth one. Then you have every option from a fully fitted kit with cradle, through various very good visor mount portable units to a simple earpiece.

Hi Gents, I just called AWS to feel them out, here is what I got:

1) The puck won't be available for 60days (at least)
2) The puck REQUIRES you to have a V60 compatible phone system in the car
3) The puck will only work with about 5 phones

I told the fellow that I had an 01 E class with a timeport (which is
absolutely true) and he said I needed to go to the dealer and get it upgraded
to work with the V60 - ie. new PSE and new cradle. I mentioned that the dealers don't have any of that any more because the V60 isn't 911 compatible and he said he didn't know anything about that.

Looking at the puck, it is the same as the bmw puck built by motorola, so it
won't work with many phones - thats for sure.
I called my dealer and they quoted "about 1800" to do the upgrade to the v60 but couldn't tell me a set price because the parts don't show in their system (no kidding, they don't sell them anymore).

I am glad I went ahead and got a kit from http://www.EuroCarPhone.com - I have it all NOW and don't have to wait for a kit that may or may not work in the future.
Plus, I had nothing to lose b/c their support techs said there is a 30 day guarantee.

Hi Westie, I fitted a CK7 Nokia/pop-port/bluetooth yesterday and it was very simple and straightforward. It is also futureproof and simple to use.

From experience, i can tell you not to go for a sunvisor kit or earpiece if you do any serious mileage. I tried both of these before biting the bullet.

Dragon.
