hard to shift gear in cold conditions

I have 1997 C230 4 cyl 2.3L. I have noticed that it is hard to shift from 1 to 2 gear in cold conditions. Once the vehicle has been driven about 2kms the shift is fine.
Please advise

No, It is Automatic, but yes, I can also shift manualy the gear lever shows D 4 3 2.

OK dont do this mod on an auto, Auto boxes are designed to hold onto the 1-2 gears to warm the CAT up quickly this is normal

But sometimes, it hold for long and it gives me a jerk before the shift, it feels as transmission slip.

This can happen sometimes, why not change the gearbox fluid and filter, its worth doing as most never get done, everyone says that they get smoother changes after doing it
