My B class 180SE cdi indicated it was due its first service at just 16000 miles. which I thought was a little premiture which was completed a couple of weeks ago.Now it tells me its due for a D service in 8500. Do these cars spend half their life being serviced, come back my 2ltr Picasso and any ideas what a D service is please

Hi Harwelly

You will find the 'miles to the next service' indicator continuously adjusts its prediction based upon how the car is used and driven. No, these vehicles don't spend all their time being serviced, although an owner who travels mega-miles, like a rep', might have their vehicle serviced two or three times a year.

I'm just retired so my annual mileage has dropped. But when I was working covering 900 miles per month, my services fell between 13k and 18k-mile intervals which proved reasonably economical when compared to my previous car which had fixed service intervals of 6,000 miles.

My 'Assist' hardly ever moves, as I am a Motorway user. Quite scary really, as I am used to fixed mileage/yearly services.

As I am moving to Spain in January, I will have a major service done by a main dealer a few weeks before I go - just to be on the safe side..! :p
