I have a W203 C220 cdi that has been loosing a bit of coolant over a few months, no obvious leaks, no overheating runs at a steady 90deg, revving it with the tank cap off it froths up in the tank, I did put some radweld in so Im not sure if the froth is being caused by the radweld, never done a cdi head gasket so are there any special tools needed or any tricks I should know, mileage is 225k, thanks.

before you start to lift the head, get the garage to pressure test the cooling system. It should confirm if it is the HG or not. You would hate to left the head, and find it was a hidden pipe, wouldn't you?

It is probably the water pump after that amount of miles. Get a closer look at it.

Head gasket problems on these are VERY rare.

As above the water pumps can leak at the front gland, never known of a head gasket on one of these
