Another thing is that is the heater air intake box drains blocked, as it unusual for a leak on a 2002 car. As Ron above what car is it

it was loosing coolant and when the heater stopped working it has not lost as much coolant since. i am very handy with the spanners but i was told it is a specailist job to take the dash off as all needed to be programmed again...whater ever that means?

was thinking of using k seal (i think its called)and pumping hot water just around the matrix unitill it seals itself by disconnecting the inlet and outlet pipes but the water at the moment does not seem to be flowing at all around the matrix so was thinking maybe the a valve has got blocked with the old sealer the garage put in? has it a got heater valve?

It is a huge job to replace the heater matrix, a good 8hrs work I would say, I would only recommend this to a very competent guy on the Ellsy's!!

Strip back the carpets at the front then pressure test the cooling system and see if you can pyshically see the coolant leaking into the inside of the car before you undertake such a massive job.
