How can I get Mercedes to resolve well documented SBC pump failure? Advice welcome
88,000How many miles has your car done?
Has it failed or just hit the count? Whats the error code?
If it has failed on a 2003 car and the pump is original, then I'm not sure what sort of goodwill you think you're entitled to. The car is well out of warranty.
........
whilst I know it would be expensive (unless you could find an accident damaged or similar car in a breakers) but ive wondered if it would be possible to 'retro fit' the system from the facelifted car into one that has had SBC failure and effectively scrap the SBC?
possibly, or possibly not as it was a variation at the production line after a certain date. I expected issues, for example, when I swapped the auto box for a manual in my Granada (I was in my mid 20s at the time, so my age wouldn't help matters) and was told......it made absolutely no difference as it was available from the factory like that.I suspect that would open a whole can of worms with insurance companies 're modification
Just had mine done 2007 sl with 74000 on clock ,don't know anythink about a goodwill fro. Merc ,me local indie did it for me ,cost me just under £1500
I surpose but hopefully that's the end of it now for the time I've got the car and amount of miles I doAn awful lot of labour considering a pump is "only" 846 Euros exchange ?
