I'm planning to purchase a new car with a bit more power.
As I travel a lot..., but first I need some tips of you!

What should I look out for! Did anyone hear about a SL55 with issues?

Then please let me know!

Hello and welcome, it needs a little more reserch on the car that you are after. though the milage is low at 6k miles everything listed on the web site is standard fitments, and they all come with those. in other words it is a basic car if thats OK by you. Nearly £70k for the old model does seem high.

Is it not worth a look in holland or Germany if you need a left hooker.

It seems the car is from Germany as the dealer has a few car with German numberplates. And I think for a SL55 from 05 the price seems OK .
Not to forget in a few days we have 2007 :-x , so he should drop the price!!

I do travel a lot Abroad, it is difficult to overtake with Rhd (dangerous)

as malcolm says i am sure it would be cheaper to go to germand or holland aand get a LHD car from there.

If your gonna be driving alot here in the UK, why LHD car.

If you're driving across Europe it makes no sense to spend £70k on a car that will lose 30% of it's value in a year. You can get a higher spec 30k mile LHD SL55 for £50k - that's where my money would go.

There are a few issues to look into with R230s - SBC recalls - boot filling with water etc. I'm sure Malcolm can help out here.

As the guys have said, i must agree id go for a slightly earlier higher mileage model also i think if i had to travel to germany often id try and get familiar with the second hand market and see what theyre priced at over there.

My uncle lives in Germany and might be able to help with language barier and also has some mates in the trade, so if ever you need any help just ask!!!

I looked at a 04 imported SL500 with all of the goodies, the vin check showed that it was an sept 02 car ,with a blank on how many owner outside the uk. I would have bought it at the right price.

i think is very commom practice amongst uk traders, they see a car thats been sat around at a delers overseas for a while, in this case 02 (an 03 model year code 803), buy as time has passed its a a knockdown price, register and get it over here, say as an 05, customer things wow, and havent a clue as the true value - age of the car.

Well found out Malcolm (television). What a super sleuth. Is doing this sort of thing legal. It appalls me.

All bear in mind, who travel in Europe, the police are installing technology to check average speed between toll booths. Starting from Calais. Obviously realised all the visitors are a gold mine.
