Hi all

Thinking about joining the fold after seeing a rather nice black 80's 280SL driving around these parts lately.

My question really is that can I expect to pick up a good car for between £7000 and £8000? I understand from searching that rust is the biggest killer of this car and unfortunately, it wouldn't fit into my garage so it would have to be stored outside.

It would also more than likely be used every day, or at least every other, but only do about 5 or 6 miles a day.

Am I dreaming and will this cost me a fortune in upkeep or do some of you have similar experiences?

Thanks for listening

Had a similar car, 350SL and yes with any car that age rust can and will be a problem - we had to spend a bit to keep it in good order and ours did similar mileage to you, and apart from a fuel injection total overhaul (rust inside the tank) the car was wonderful.

If it's what you want go for it. ;);)
