The pump is what is known as CAN controlled, that is there are no direct contacts between on locking button and the pump. Now it the Printed circuit board in the pump has been getting very wet, this can be seen by undoing the screws that hold the PCB into the case. If there is a green algae on the circuit board components and more so under and on the pins of the connector sockets, then this could stop the pump from running as all the CAN signals will become corrupted.

It is possible with lighter fuel and a toothbrush to remove most of the green stuff but very hard to do under the sockets without removing them, and to remove them is near on impossible as the water has blackened the metal too much to be able to de solder them.

The pump fuse is yellow on the top row and 4 or 5 in from the right, the front panel on the fuse box will pull off from the top to make access easier

Also the terminals on the pump are all green so this sounds like it could have the problem you previously mentioned, i will take it apart and have a little look :)

That fuse box is OK and standard :D

If you can power spray some cleaner in under the sockets you may be able to clean it up,, there again components could be damaged.

I have one water damaged board here where the motor blew apart, the PCB could be OK even if there is some corrosion on it, as it worked till the motor blew

I have been doing a lot of work on these pumps, all the motors have markings of the current drawn, some through some reason tend to draw a little more on the first start,, I think that a 25 amp fuse would be much better,

I have dismantled a motor that was blowing the fuse every few days, done a drop test on the armature and nothing wrong at all. One guy has been using a 25 amp fuse for 2 weeks now and no problems at all.

The reason I said from the right was I was standing on my head looking down at the fuse box

Ok i have taken the PSE pump apart as per your advice and given the connectors a clean up with some electrical spray, i noticed there is a bit on the board that looks burnt out, looks like it may have short circuited itself :/ ive seen a few pumps on ebay for around £300 do you think its worth buying one of those? I dont want to waste money trial and erroring though if its not the pump at fault.

Opinions ??

OK that is only a diode the same as the other 4 just above in a row but larger.

Can you change it if I find one for you, they are polarity marked

Hi Television
I am new to the Forum but like many SL owners have experienced nothing but expensive problems with my SL.
Recently had the ABC pump replaced by MB at a cost of £2,500, only to find that within a few weeks my PSE and SBC Pumps have also given up the ghost.
MB are offering 50% goodwill on the SBC (still will cost over £1,000) but see little option but to pay up and get it done. I have tries MB head office and got nowhere despite all manner of threats. I am currently having a go at Bosch re the PSE Pump but they are just ignoring me !!
With regard to the PSE pump the same can be repaired according to my mechanic, just needs the motor parts. Any idea where I can obtain the same, currently scouring ebay !!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
