Hi. I'm having big issues with my 2001 W203 C270cdi gearbox.

Situation: Few months ago it starts to go to limb mode and slip gear when it was hot. After look in the forum and around the internet and having the scanner showed errors 014, 110 (RPM Comparison N2 to N3 Implausible), 146 Inadmissible Transmission Ratio and 147 (Gear Implausible or Transmission Slipping) I decided to have the Sensor plate, connector (to prevent leaks) filter and ATF changed.

Well, here starts the problem: The gearbox sound a lot more smooth (it was some dirty in the gearbox and the ATF was really old, but notting exceptional) but the PROBLEM STILL THERE!

When cold it works perfectly, when hot, if you press the gas a bit more than the normal, it goes to limb mode. If you do it again before turn the car off and on it goes to mechanical limb mode (as before).

I've it scanned again (I had not reseted the errors after change the plate) and comes the problem still there, with the same errors. So I've changed the plate, filter, ATF, reseted the gearbox ECU and the problem still there.

I'm out of theories and I DO NEED HELP!

Please, any ideas?

If I remember correctly the gearbox ECU must have its memory cleared.

Next check I would do is look for oil in the transmission control unit. It can travel up the wiring loom into the ecu.

After that it could be the transmission is actually slipping. If the old oil had a lot of dark silvery deposits the clutch plates could be worn. Is the car remapped?

good post , my gearbox slips a bit at 3500 rpm. only when its floored.
but i have seen a box that had actually broke in two parts, due to overheating.
this set fire to the loom and went up behind the dashboard. .
scary.
if im gonna rev it flat, i make sure its going to be over 4000 rpm before i floor it.

HI. The TCU is clean, and the transmission is working pretty well until get hot, with no signal of mechanical slipping (the gears get in very firm). It had a bid of dark silvery deposits but far away of a big deterioration. The car isn't remapped (thanks God!).

The question still in the table, what could be???

Thanks a lot.

You said here http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/148237-help-722-6-still-problem-after-change-sensor-plate.html that it was previously slipping from 2nd to 3rd, but you haven't tried it since replacing the sensor plate. I think you need to know if it is actually slipping or not. Perhaps get a decent independent merc specialist to take a look at it.

I have had a similar problem before with a remapped clk270cdi. Sensor plate replacement appeared to fix it for a few weeks, but came back with the same codes again. My gearbox rebuilder replaced all the "soft" parts and was as good as new again.

Uncle, can you specify this a little? What do you mean by "soft" parts?
