Hi All,

I have just joined this forum in the hope that maybe i could get some assistance. Basically I have owned a 99 CLK 320 for a number of years. Lately it has started to cause a number of issues. Firstly the Dials ie the Speedometer & the rev counter behave erratically. Jumping up and down then at times not moving at all. The Dash lights up like a Christmas tree, this in tern leads to the car going into limp mode & therefore impossible to drive. I have taken it to my mechanic who suggests that there is an issue with the Ecu.

Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly welcome.

Also should we take the ecu out of the car, could anyone suggest somebody reliable in the UK who could Test it for errors. ?

Many Thanks
M

Your first job should be get the car connected to Star diagnostics, by someone who knows how to interpret it. Not any other, just Star. This should give you a clue as where to start - rather than just sending bits off to be looked at.

Good luck.

Does you mechanic have Star diagnostic sytem to check the ECU for fault codes?
If not, I'd suggest finding an indy nearby to get the codes read on Star and take it from there

You have done the basic checks for loose connections, grounds etc. Obvious places to check are the battery, ECU box and fuses. Had you just done some work on the car when it first started?
