Hi,

Just needing some info on buying a CLK 320, I've got a budget of around £7500-£8500

Can some one just run through the different models and what to look out for when buying, was there a facelift model? I've seen some with the indicators in the wing mirrors? What can I expect to get for my money?

What are the main differences between Avantgarde and Elegance etc...

I've had a search but can't seem to find much.

Many Thanks

Stewart

Elegance is a softer ride with wood trim inside and different wheels.
Avantgarde is a lower firmer ride with different wheel. Black maple trim.
Sport (Pre facelift) is like avantgarde in terms of ride.

Facelifted cars came in August 1999. Indicators in wing mirrors, revised trim inside, revised skirts, spoliers and steering wheel controls.

Some say the W208 CLK rusts but I've had two now with no hint of rust. They are a great car, with classic looks. My advice would be to get the lowest mileage, newest one you can afford. Preferrably a facelifted one.

Many say the 320 engine is best suited to the CLK as its smooth and powerful but nowhere near as heavy as the 430. The 200 and 200K is best left alone. Harsh and unappealing. The 230 is powerful enough but like the 200's is a four pot so its not as smooth as the V6 or the V8. Make sure you get as many extras on it as possible with parking sensors at the top of the list. Rear vision isnt great and sensors are a real bonus. COMAND can be retrofitted firly easily;)
