Hi all,
It's been a while since I was last on here , but I got a lot of help from everyone a couple of years ago and I'm hoping someone will be able to help again this time.
I have a 2002 C180 auto (W202) which about a month ago started making a clicking sound which speeds up on accelaration and slows down and stops on decelaration and idle. The noise could be heard when steering Right initially , but then progreesed to when steering straight, and seems to disappear when steering left.
It can be heard coming from under the gearstick area inside the car, but a mecahnic friend who looked at the car cannot find the cause. He has told us to leave it untill it gets worse???? so that it may become apparent where the problem is. The car is driving fine, apart from a judder at about 50 mph when breaking, bit we think that is due to the discs.
It is now, louder than before, but we still have no idea what it is.
It sounds to me like something is spinning round and clicking,( like a ring) . Could it be the gearbox.?
We had it totally rebuilt 2 years ago due to water getting into the transmission fluid.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also not sure if I have posted this in the right forum.
Thanks
Maria
