Hello again,

Another possible problem with my 190D.

Forgive my ignorance (I am a diesel novice) but whenever I start my 190D 2.5 in very cold temperatures 'without touching the gas' it just judders on and on without properly catching. However, as soon as I touch the pedal it catches fine and gives no more trouble. Is this normal behaviour for a diesel?

Another problem - sometimes in traffic jams if the car is running alot in 1st and 2nd (manual car) and 'on the gas' there seems to be a slight stutter or interuption in power - it is only fleeting. Feels as if it could be fuel flow, but corrects itself quickly. Only a niggle really and as far as I know may be usual for diesels. Any advice would be warmly welcomed. many thanks, best wishes. Alf.

you do know that the diesel engines have glowplugs and that you dont start a diesel car like a 190d the same way as a petrol car,

ie: turn ignition on, wait until glow plug light on the instrument panel goes off, then turn the key the full way to start, this warms up the glow plugs to 'fire' the diesel so to speak

in addition, you may have some blocked fuel filters and leaking oil return tubes in the engine, its common on the 190d if its old and not well taken care of

cheers
