Hi,

I am currently in the market for a new car and have a bit of a dilemma. My heart says go for a C43 (t-plate, around 62,000 miles) or a 51-reg E320 CDi with 51,000 miles.

They're both about the same price to buy but I honestly don't know which one to get. The E320 really does appeal for economy and residuals but my heart is looking at the C43...

Which would you get and why?

regards,
Matt

Always go with your heart! You'll have a smile on your face every time you drive the car you really desired...

Agreed. I'd go for what really pleases me. Economy is an issue but would you trade your satisfaction just for that? Also you probably have to consider your annual mileage. If it's not over 20k, economy becomes less important.

you only live twice

so C43 it is. You can always sell it and get something sensible later, as sensible cars will always be around in some shape or form. C43s however will become fewer and fewer.
I bet you won't want to sell it though.

thanks for the comments guys :) I am actually being drawn the other way... perhaps it is because I used to have an n-reg E320 and that was great, I just wasn't ready for it at the time.

There is an article on the C43 in Mercedes Enthusiast this month.
It might help you decide.

Myros, there is also a few pages on the R107

I agree with the C43 but don't underestimate the peformance of the 320CDI....the gap is not as wide as it might seem because the 320CDI is a very quick and responsive motor...especially if chipped.
