I have ML270 CDI 2004
Car starts off okay changes up into 4 th gear then looses power. Change down with paddle shift engine just revs, no forward power.
I have replaced injectors, replaced turbo and MAF sensor. Cleaned out catalytic converter. Changes oil, serviced transmission.

Will it rev above 3000 in lower gears with power? If not, suggest is in limp home mode. Only way out without just throwing money at it, is to get a scan done at a good indy on STAR. You have already thrown lots at it with no result. Could still be a number of things. EGR or turbo actuator for example. Split hoses. No good guessing. Too expensive.

Yes and no. It depends on the code reader and the fault. Your code reader is a generic reader so may only understand generic manufacturers codes and not MB specific ones.
It also won't pull fault codes for any module other than the engine.

Not necessarily , depends what code reader you are using, did you fit a genuine mercedes maf ? lots of cheapo crap out there that just wont work, maf sensor on these engines also feed data to the tcu and can often cause erratic gear shifting as well as turbo issues which can feel like lymp mode

An answer that will come up time and time again is: where are you based?
You need a Mercedes specialist with star to look at your car. Not a dealer but an independent. Ppl here can recommend someone that will probably get it sorted without guess work. You've replaced so much already that MIGHT have been unnecessary.

I have been working on cars of all descriptions since I was 17. ELIMINATION of parts that are old and need replacing. The parts I have replaced on my Mercedes were needed. If only owner would have cars serviced regularly. Most vehicles are neglected and left until they fail the owner say oh, should have serviced that. I taught classes for many years at College drumming into students why we service car regularly. I will find what is wrong with my Mercedes by elimination. Only replacing parts where necessary. Remember my ML270 IS 2004 and done only150,0000klms but with that badly serviced.

So by that theory, if you replace all the parts you’ll resolve your problem… you’ll also have a brand new 2004 ML…;)
The advice given above is based on many, many, many threads where owners have spent ££££ replacing parts without resolving the issue.

The fault might be in pending codes..........
If it works fine after a restart then that's where you need to be looking with the correct diagnostic equipment.

no, that's not what I said. I am not replacing all parts. just those that are beyond repair. So your saying if the injectors are stuffed leaving in why replace them. Or catalytic converter is full of ash so who cares leave in or turbo leaking oil who care leave in. Sorry mate I do agree with your ideas or philosophy.

Repairing your car by a process of elimination is going to be expensive and probably pointless as you may never find the the cause of your issue.
These cars are complex and need the correct diagnostic equipment, without it you are just guessing.
