hi new member with a question

i have a 1999 w210 280 with a knocking on the front end but only over small bumbs not when going over the likes of speed humps or kerbs the garage has changed the suspension bushes,antiroll bar bushes and the linkarms to no avail also my car does not want to rev past 4,000 rpm garage has no ideas as the car is still warranted by them for a further 2 months any suggestions as to where to look would be brilliant :(

Anti roll bar drop links. Cheap and easy. But just to be safe, look under the bonnet and make sure nothing daft is loose, like the washer bottle :)

Check the MAF sensor for the rpm problem.

Hi & Welcome, I agree with Parrot on both issues. I'm guessing your garage is neither an MB dealer or an MB specialist.

Have they changed the bottom ball joints if not do so. the Rev could be due to a broken air flow sensor.:razz:

no i'm afraid it is not a mercedes garage and my confidence in them is very limited but i want them to fix the probs while i still have the warranty :( thanks for the answers i will pass on your wisdom to the garage and wait with my fingers crossed they have had four attempts so far

The drop links are very very cheap to do, only about £6 per side.

An easy DIY job if you have no luck with your garage.

Hi If you have changed the link arms on the end of the anti roll bar, you will find its the lower ball joints, we are always changing these, Recommend using genuine & new lock nuts, The other problems we have had is the top ball joints-steering tie rod -or the track rod ends, but these are not common like the lower ball joints, Regards John

thanks for the info new sensor being fitted on tuesday and the lower ball joints were done today no knocking anymore!
