Just a quick post to say Hi, my username is derived from a comment made by a pal who during car discussions said he "wasn't old enough "to own a Mercedes"!

Just bought a 320CLK, an OLD one but only 73k on the clock. Usual chips etc but a full service history and checks out on the HPI checks, including mileage.

Any useful tips would be appreciated

Hi and welcome, its time to change the gearbox fluid as this will not have been done.

Thanks! Fully serviced, no rust, but do I remember that gearbox fluid wasn't on the service schedule or something like that?

I think you'll find that the gearboxes are supposedly sealed for life, with no scheduled fluid changes, but many more knowledgeable people than me, including the two earlier respondents, will strongly advise otherwise!
as for another tip ? enjoy your new car !

Second key for CLK?

Well it's actually arrived now! I need owners handbook etc, they are missing, so if anyone has any spare I'm interested! Also there's only one key. I have seen similar on Ebay etc needing reprogramming.

Can anyone tell me the best and most economical approach to getting a second key? (My Volvo V50 key was daylight robbery to replace).

I'm afraid it's a Dealer replacement only - the ones on ebay are unprogrammable. £150 or thereabouts, I'm afraid.

I'm in the same boat and need a spare key too. :(

Rule numbers 1, 2 & 3 when buying a Merc is make sure you get supplied 2 keys - or get £150 knocked off the price.

BTW.........welcome to the forum............. ! ! ! ! !

Oh well, if the key is the worst thing I have to worry about i won't lose too much sleep! The previous owner does think he has one in his flat somewhere and will try to find it.......

Very glad I opted for the V6, luvverly innit!
