I've been told that a possible improvement for power / engine efficiency would be replacing my standard cat with a high flow catalytic converter. Does anyone have experience of these?

Richard, any idea what it does to emissions? My SLK is already in the top VED band I believe, but only just, so I don't want to increase it massively in case I can slip under the emissions threshold for the top VED band.

It was effective on a notoriously dirty engine (rotary) in keeping HC, CO and NOx in compliance with the full 3 way catalyst MOT test. My car was 1994 import, so didn't actually need a catalyst, but it was always compliant with the most stringent tests.

I doubt it made any difference to C02, which is how VED is calculated, and as long as it is efficient enough to pass the MOT, then you are good to go?

Cheers,

Richard

Thanks Richard.

Any further input from others?

(I realised my stupid mistake of putting this in General btw - I've asked it to be moved.)
