Hello all.
Need a little help with my c 180 1998 . (100K miles)
Automatic choke ( old name I know) was staying on awhile to long occasionally especially if very cold.
My mechanic sprayed some carb cleaner into carb but now it is staying on a lot more even when its not cold.
A quick rev will take it back to normal approx 750rpm but sometimes it will creap back up and can reach 2250 revs.
What should I do next. (more cleaner perhaps)
Any ideas welcome
Thanks in advance.

Well you do not have a carb, the fault is the idle change over switch on the side of the throttle body and the lever wears so that the switch does not make contact and switch over to the idle part of the ECU.

The trick is to file off the end stop that stops the switch from closing I may have a paper on this that I can copy

I`d be intererested in this paper too, I have a spare throttle body that does that, even though the company I bought it from refused to admit it was faulty when I sent it back to them! (Autotek of Poole in Dorset. "Bargepole" and "touch" comes to mind there!)

The first few lines (not here) say old MB 180 would not idle correctly and would flair up,or continue high idle
