How can I identify my car

Hi All
I'm a new owner for a Mercedes car, my car year built is 1973 and it fuel is benzin. It has a rear lable of "200" I had searched many site and found that the models of 1973 were 220 & 220D (i.e differe than the rear lable).
How can I idetify my car to know its class, motor model (as W124,..etc). Also, if any one can guid me to get user manual or maitenance manual it will be very appreciated.

Is it a diesel or petrol engine?

you could also just look at the first 3 digits of the chassis number!!
