I have a 2013 ML350. I've been trying to work out how to check how much Adblue there is in the tank. No matter how much I look thoruhg the instrumentation I can work out how to check the Adblue level.
Does any body know how I can check how much Adblue there is in the tank?

Even if you go into the service menu ,it'll probably only say 'full'

Or

Not full.

Best thing to do is fill it right up, then you know how much is in.

An icarsoft scanner should tell you the proper levels tbh.

Yeah, there's no AdBlue option in the service menu.

What's an icarsoft scanner and do you have a link to one that you can share with me?

Hello and welcome,

I don’t think there was ever an option for level check on early AdBlue systems @EmilysDad might know.

There’s probably a warning when it gets low and that’s it.

My 16 reg e350 didn't show levels , just ,full or not full . It was in the service menu when you pressed phone and ok.

Adblue dictionary description..

A emissions based system that mostly does not work and costs a fortune to maintain. Followed or precided by multiple dash warnings
Don't leave home or go to Europe without AA or similar recovery. Delete adblue when possible or change car.

That's wot it shud say

I would always break a piece of bamboo to a appropriate length and create a dip stick, then i got a nice man to alter this and other things on my ECU. Problem solved.

I have a 2014 E220d and have the same problem. I was going to go down the "dip a piece of bamboo in the tank" route but haven't yet. I suppose the question is why do you want to know the level? I have a warning at 1000 miles and it counts down from there

The car recently did a 1500 mile round trip to France so I added five litres "just in case" and if if it helps, my car does about 16000 miles on a full adblue tank before it runs out

Thats quite expensive way to find out the level of Adblue :). I'll just have to accept that there is no way to check the level.

I think its just the principal really, you can check other fluid levels and I was assuming that something as integral as AdBlue would also allow me to check how much was in the system.

It was a new (hastily added) system at the time and it was thought that usage would be so low that it could just be topped up at each service.
With software updates usage has increased and newer models have displays in the dash menus that show fill level.

Treat it like washer fluid, every month odd when you pop the bonnet keep it topped up.

If Adblue has a shelf life is it advisable to fill the tank if your not doing a high mileage.
