Yep it is unreal. Article says sub 1 sec to 60mph then later states with an optional rocket booster pack will hit 60 in 1.1 seconds, typo I suspect and should have read sub 2 secs.

Rocket boosters would not be road legal and 0-60mph times of around 0.6 seconds pull 5.3g, enough to make an average unfit driver pass out.

I think the current 1.85 secs of the Nevera at 1.5g will be the target and anything under 1.5 secs would end up banned from a road safety point of view...

It has some parallels in the Bike world, she who must be obeyed occasionally has a bike licence and can theoretically buy a rocket ship on two wheels to greet a wall or tree, she passed on a Honda 250 something.

I who lost the need for speed many moons ago can buy a lunatic model car for a relatively low amount take the Insurance hit and off I go.

I passed my test in I think an Austin 1100

I have no problems admitting the track hurtling youth in me is well in the past and battling through a "smart steering" wheel whilst parked is enough.

To be frank me finding the cars limits on public roads is lunacy.

It might be time for License upgrades for these hurtling ships.

I passed in a 1976 1.6 Golf.

I think people are missing the point here. We all have cars that are capable of killing us. If you don't want to accelerate hard you don't have to. My car could do 186 mph if the speed limiter was removed, unsurprisingly I have no interest in travelling that fast on public roads.

I also do not accelerate hard unless safe to do so, on an open dry, straight road . I would wear the tyres out apart from anything else.

But there are occasions when it is safe to accelerate, and fun to do so.

SWMBO told me to overtake an X5 who was annoying her by speeding up then going slow on a local Country Lane, an X5 has capacity to accelerate well so I floored the AMG in Sport+, job done in seconds but left SWMBO screaming, hopefully next time she will have a little more tolerance, the driver was not bothering me at all and was doing 40-50mph in a 60 zone.

The point is totally ludicrous performance may well be in the hands of responsible and capable drivers but to my certain knowledge there are those that ain't, have never been and even worse think they are.

A friend of my youths is one, early 20's and the most ludicrously fast car that he ain't capable of handling.

An older friend used to be a capable driver but the operative word is used to be he is nearer mobility scooter level than the barmy car he relives his youth in.
