Iam intrested to ask how long you fellow MB owners have owned/driven your 55 amgs. I ask because I find myself within the last few weeks, looking to exchange my 06 E55, having only had it 3 months, because I simply am not using it enough, driving time wise and power wise, I also note that a fellow member has only had his E55 6 months, and is selling his, whats wrong with the 55,s or whats wrong with 55 owners, includes me! need guidance from the more experience! dont know if Iam bored or confused, help!.

I have had mine now for 4-5 months.
I use mine everyday, in the time I've had it I've done 9K miles. "The Beast" has run superb giving me no reasons to change it. I was in Workington today another 200 mile round trip clocked up and tomorrow I'm in Bristol so there will be another big run in the car. It seams to thrive on that kind of driving. Big benefit my fuel is free. I wouldn't consider selling this at the moment, I'm looking to keep it for 3 -4 years.

As someone on the brink of a 55 purchase, I'll be interested to hear the views in this thread!

Not lucky enough to be a 55 owner and given the chance, I'd probably get one, but, you really have to live somewhere that you could use a 55. I suspect I'd find one very frustrating (like the Wife's A3 turbo). All that grunt but with traffic jams, traffic lights and gatsos, in all onesty, where can you use it?
I suspect in performance terms, in reality, the 320cdi is probably more usable.

I still want a 55 mind!

Lost on the A303 :o)
Joining motorways and A-roads is fantastic... get up to traffic speed without any problem. I live in south-west London and can use all the power several times a day despite the traffic. It isn't about speed; it's about acceleration*.

*- although as you can tell from my avatar picture, I have to pedal quite hard to get to that speed.

am in the process of selling my E55....

I bought it from a main dealer last Oct, and have done 7k very enjoyable miles in it. Am going to be using it less now, so am selling it with a view to buying somthing else at some point. ...and i usually change my car every year or so. Gonna run aournd in my wife's Eclass and my toyota landcruiser for a bit. The E55 is gonna be hard to better tho. Supposedly a chap coming round this eveing with a deposit....

Totally agree, though the surge with these quick cars is over all too soon. 6 or 7 secs later you're breaking the law. I once got pulled way back for accelerating too quickly! How do they measure that? Mind you, took the Tiv out at the weekend in the glorious weather we had, and at one point I though it was gonna pop a wheelie. T'was a perfect day, glad to be alive kinda stuff.

I've had mine (1999 W210) just over 3 years, in which time I've put another 70k onto the 50k miles the previous owner had racked up.

I'm not familiar with the new model, however evidently it has a more luxurious interior and more power. And that can't be bad!!!

Mine is so much more than the sum of its parts - it's a family car, a motorway cruiser, a straight line rocket and still gorgeous enough to draw admiring glances (unlike the guy in the drivers seat). :)

That said if I was buying something new I'd take the CL55 or 500 for styling, the CLS because it's just the 1920's all over again, but more likely a secondhand S55 or S65.

Stay cool guys.
