Might be worth bearing this in mind, not just for this, but many of the older 'post classic' Mercs. I recently looked into buying a spares/repair 1985 420SEL, just for its alloy wheels. The plan was to buy it off ebay, swap the wheels, then sell it to a car breaker. Before I purchased it, I checked with them - they want £20 to take a car this old, this size, off you.
Prestige Motors in Sunnindale, Surrey, had an imaculate one there a few
weeks ago. Early 94 I think. They had it in the showroom.
Is this an Eclass (w124)320 convertable you are talking about?
Anyway they were asking a whopping £12,000.
The value of these cars will not go down over the next year if in good nick
They are not that common. Lot shorter run than coupe, and very expensive
new. Also a true four seater convertable. Ask him to give it to you.
In Ireland they are already appreciating, not depreciating.
Not sure how many were imported to Uk and Ireland. You don't see too
many mentioned on this site. Rarer than sl's?
I reckon it is a future classic
Cannot compare this car to a 420sel. To many doors for a classic.
