I hope to have one before I reach 50.
I better hurry only 6 mths to go.

If I stick to a sedate colour would a CLK still look like a mid-life crisis ? :)

Absolutely Orrinoconner, you go for it. We want the W123 to be shouted from the rooftops and driven with pride no matter what the age.
We want young people to also drive them, which they will realize is much cheaper on classic car insurance than a modern one. Limiting the mileage also makes it cheaper.
You drive it and get a hat to match lol!

Compared with today...petrol was relatively expensive in 1977. In 1977 petrol was 77p a gallon...the price now is £6.13 a gallon. Few things have risen by only 8 fold in the last 35 years. You also get a great deal more mpg today than you did then...so that further reduces the relative price of the fuel you use.

Have bought 4 now and have been driving them for 20 years.
30 - 190E - best car I have ever owned
37 - 220E
40 - E300 TD Estate - Absolutely fantastic car.
46 - C220 Estate, Utter rubbish in comparison to the previous three.

I think at one time it was generally throught of that older people in the 60s and 70s drove mercs which they still do today and many much older people. Although seeing success with many people early they have found the Mercs a symbol of quality and comfort and have been caught by the bug as they say. For many its been an affordable solution to taste the delights of a quality car at a very reasonable price ven purchasing second hand.

Just purchased my 16th Merc now having had 190s 240s 250s 300s 420s in the past 30 years.
Just love em, but i must admit i still prefer the older models which i'm sure many will agree upon.

And of course they are cheaper now than they were 30 years ago (compared to the average salary).

IM 26. Bought the MB C-Class W203 C200K Sport Edition somewhere in Buckinghamshire and have shipped it back to my home country. Such a nice looking wheel. love it. Just installed a new Sport Grill for much more furious look...

I am 24 and I love my E320 CDI W211. Yes, it's got the AMG bodykit in attempt to make it more 'youthful'!

And so you should. My last company car was a W 211. Someone sneeringly asked me "What is so special about that then".

I explained patiently that it was the ideal saloon car, and everybody should have one. He looked puzzled and scratched his head as he walked off! :D
