Daily drive e 280 CID sport but also own a 95 w124 e300 d which I drive few times a wk ,car goes good but not a lot of reaction when I kick throttle down is there a fault or is it just me used to other car,,,,
Any way to check if kick down is actually working. Ps it's a non turbo diesel straight six.

You should feel the indent under the pedal, is it clicking when you push the pedal, the no turbo cars are very slow.

You also have cables from the pressure valve to enable kick down, these could be out of adjustment

The cables above join onto the throttle under the bonnet, the kick down switch should be a 1st gear start if you start off with the pedal hard to the floor.

AFAIK the click switch at the bottom of the accelerator travel on an E300 Diesel does nothing except shut off the a/c if it's on

Adjust the kickdown cable so that the car kicks down at about 70% of throttle travel. That will work well

The kickdown cable runs from the throttle mechanism down to the gearbox on the nearside

You can adjust kick down as it joins throttle lingage, if no luck check kickdown relay. Hope this helps
