I think I may have mentioned this before but i think in a couple of years people with petrol/diesel cars are going to get hit hard with RFL and the older bigger the engine the worst. Then later on all vehicles will be charged per mile to drive on any roads.

That the SLC is only £30 is crazy. Of course, it makes perfect sense for you, Sonic, but... The RFL classes have been hopeless for years.

You are correct. I sold a 2010 SLK200K 1800cc petrol road tax £300, for a 2016 SLC250d 2200cc diesel road tax £30.
If I had bought a 2017 SLC250d its £170.

My mother-in-law pays £150 for a 2007 Honda Jazz, and our 2012 Jazz is the same. The old 996 Turbo was a bargain at £260. The GT3 is £550 unfortunately - but it's worth it!

How so Stuart....unless you are meaning the additional rate(currently £325) applicable if the new retail price is above £40k?
From April 2017 an annual flat rate was introduced, currently £150 for petrol/diesel and £140 for hybrid.

I thought the NIP had to be issued within 14 days unless they could prove that their was satisfactory investigation into determining who the driver was.

I had a fine sent to me 6 months after the offence date. I sent it back stating the 14 day time period. They said they had trouble tracking me down. I asked to see their evidence and enquiry log and then I heard nothing. I assume they cancelled it.

Road pricing will come soon. If the rate of electric car take up stays the same / accelerates then they will get less and less from RFL. Therefore they will just get their money another way! Also a bit more money on fuel tax to hit the older High consumption cars too.
