Yea I saw it earlier actually.. Very surprised. I thought they were supposed to be good.

I am still prioritising changing the landsails on my E class ass that will be used more in winter.. (and I should have done it months ago too..)
The Pirellis will be perfectly ok, the SL is a cruiser not a sports car on a track day.

A cruiser it may be but when pushed it's pretty amazing how it grips and grips and grips... I had a very entertaining evening drive up the side of Loch Lomond across to Glencoe last year..... The car was a revelation in the way it went round corners.

I agree but even in those instances I have found even the crappy Bridgestones on my SL have been able to hold on with my driving style.

R230 SL500 - oh yeah!
Hey congrats on your new purchase. Hopefully you'll have lots of fun driving it around.

Re the Pirelli P Zeros - my SL came with them too, in the end I replaced them with some Goodyear F2s - found the Pirellis to be ok, but a bit hard and unforgiving. I wouldn't bother changing them till they need to be replaced though - it shouldn't spoil your enjoyment of the car.

If he has 275 or 285 rears then Sharks aren't an option.

What size are your tyres Connor?

Booo.. I have 285 rears alright.

Funny thing is though. I do such few miles these won't need replacing until they perish. I'll likely only do 2k miles annual in this car.

Congrats on your purchase Conor, not read all this thread, but do not worry too much about the ABC, in seven years of ownership mine has had a new ABC pump and that's it. Not a big deal. It's a great system and well made, as it turns out. I am actually a fan, having been scared of it at first as you were.

Enjoy !

A bit late to the thread, but I enjoyed reading your journey to your rare coloured SL500! Although I’m sure the 600’s and 55’s are another level, the 500 is a great car (especially when the sun it out)! - and most of the time, the 500’s are more than enough on the roads which are covered in speed cameras!!

Hopefully I’ll get to see your car at one of the meet ups some time!

Yes it's been a journey alright, but fun along the way and learning loads.

Where are you based Ryan? I think I am going to the York meetup in early December.
