I recently got a call from my dealer that my car need an update. I was told what's the update all about but after joining this forum and reading all sorts I'm not sure if i should attend the appointment or not .

Many things in life need an update. Our computer, phones, even ourselves with a vaccine.
Afaik the update has envirometmal aspects so I would get it done.

The wife SLC250d was done about a year ago. Initially it wouldn't go into 9th under 75mpg, but over a period of about 3 months everything returned to normal.

What’s to tell, it’s to update the emissions of the car to bring it in line with what it should be in real world conditions, it’s not massive adjustments that many make out but the car will be slightly different to drive, after a while you’ll probably not even notice the change

I got a phone call from MB the other day re this software update & recall. 'Shall I book you in?' she says. I suggested that the Web had loads of negative feedback ... NOX sensor etc, .... I wasn't fixing something that wasn't broke.
She was quite accepting of my reply of 'No thanks'.... :)

I had mine done in October last year and I have only done 2000 miles since then but I can't tell the difference in gear changes or performance etc. However the average MPG has dropped from 44.7 to 39.7. They also checked the NOX sensors and told me that they would not need changing. Presumably this points to earlier ones being suspect.

Fingers crossed that all goes well. I'm happier to know that the No is down even if the carbon has gone up.
