Was out on my bicycle this afternoon in Walsall when l became aware of a vehicle rather too close for comfort. As this white van approached me the passenger put his arm out and deliberately pushed me off my bike and into a ditch. Luckily I'm OK and so is the bike. But why do this? Could have been very nasty. I hope these mindless morons fester in hell and soon. Didn't get the reg number unfortunately.

There are some crazies on the road. Is it possible that another motorist might have seen & reported it? I hope so. Don't let it put you off riding though.

Thanks Mcdonald. I was vaguely aware of following cars passing so yes it's quite possible somebody reported it. However, l'm not going to worry any more and l don't intend letting it put me off too much. I guess I'll just be a bit more wary from now on, although there's no way that l could have prevented this from happening. I do hope they get their come uppance.

I know you don't have reg no, but you should report it to the police, in case these yobbos are serial offenders.

Please do call, because if it’s already been reported then they now have the victim to go with the crime.

OK folks, just made the call and an officer will call me back tomorrow it seems.
Thank you for your interest and advice.
It's the right thing to do.
If they make a habit of it it's a matter of time before someone gets badly hurt.

There were some real loony tunes out on the road over the weekend that's for sure. Glad you escaped relatively unscathed.

Sorry to hear of this but i bet you’ve become a victim of the internet. Wouldn’t be surprised if the footage of the incident is now on line for entertainment purposes. There are people riding along canal towpaths pushing people into the canal while filming it. Report it to the police.

Thanks.
Yes I'd considered the possibility of this being on the Web somewhere. Still waiting a return call from the police who are due to contact me today.

Thanks Mioba.
Yes I'm OK both physically and mentally really. I'm sure I'm going to be a bit wary for a while though. I do a lot of my cycling "off road" so that's better really. Apart from mindless idiots along canal tow paths as I've heard of them deliberately pushing cyclists into the canal. Whatever's wrong with society?

I do not condone what these idiots did, and am glad no serious injury was sustained, but unfortunately there are so many idiotic cyclists about that they have made themselves a target to such an extent that a lot of motorista see them as "open game".
And I am not only talking about the ones on the roads, around where I live there are a lot of "shared pavements" whereby you just give each other room - which when there is room is a good idea. But on a couple of occasions on a path I use regularly on Hamble Lane I have had to dive into the hedgerow, (and a thorny one at that) because said cyclist thought it funny to vere towards me as he passes in the opposite direction. One day he will do it to the wrong person, (built like a rugby player) and he, (the offending cyclist) himself will go flying into the road headlong into traffic!
I will find it it very hard to feel any sympathy.................
