Bought a car the other day, today's (April) trade was £27k I paid £26..... In Aug it's predicted is £14k.....

I test drove a 3 year old low mileage Jaguar XE in November. Asking price then was £26,980. It is still unsold and now priced at £24,480. Lovely car and l thought it might have gone by now. If it comes down further, perhaps below £24k, l might be tempted to revisit with a view to buying it.

Something to note Graham, my Son in Law bought a XF 3.0 S whatever the final spec was and it was plagued with electrical problem that Jaguar in Norwich just couldn’t resolve. The engine was an absolute peach however. Eventually they bought it back from him and he has driven an MB completely trouble free for the last 3 1/2 years completely trouble free

But you are right in some ways - no-one knows what's coming - certainly there is no indication of new car supply improving anytime soon!

This is indeed one of the reasons l haven't already purchased the XE, as l did hear somewhere that Jaguars can be prone to electrical / electronic issues.

I read on a news article yesterday - stipulating or perhaps speculating that it could be the end of jaguar due to poor sales & high costs of customer care (warranties), high costs of r&d, high costs of production, and really USA which was their number one market has seriously slowed in terms of demand for jaguar. Not sure if that means JLR becomes LR or whether LR are also struggling?

Not sure I agree with it, but they were speaking from a financials stand point and I imagine with the necessary numbers at hand.

PS - They were also indicating that many luxury buyers were turning to the german offerings of MB, BMW & Audi in a move away from 'British' due to reliability. image & high cost of jaguar maintenance in north america.

I have just had my car valued by Motorway. Last month they valued it 'up to £21885' now they have valued it at 'up to £19776'.

Last Saturday we were out to lunch with friends of ours. He is a used car dealer. I specifically asked him "What is happening in the used car market place". He told me that last month used car prices were at a record high and there is no sign of any tailing off of used car prices this month either. He said it is very hard to buy good used cars at 'sensible' prices.

There was also a video I watched on YouTube that said until micro chips become freely available for new car production used cars will remain on a high until at least 2024/5. Another significant influencer on new car production is the shortage of wiring harnesses from Ukraine, I see that Porsche have stopped production on certain models because of it.

The message at the moment seems very mixed and looking on Autotrader there doesn't seem to be a huge downward movement of used car prices.

Blimey all this talk about selling and buying back in and trading up or down is way beyond me! I just buy my car and enjoy it, a mate is still toying with idea of selling his 2013 C63 AMG and going for a Vantage, Porche, ferrari or Maserati!! As he has had this car 4 years and bored of it!!...BORED!! bleeding fool!!and he still trying to convince me to sell my S500 and also trade up!, well I'm not in a position to do so and I am more than happy with my 20yr old S500 thank you very much

Yes very true but he knows I've not the finances to buy another car, he OK he loaded so he can get bored as he likes with high end motors
