Hi,

I am going to try and import my Italian registered C200 elegance 1994 to the UK. I have been told I need the following in order to get an MOT on the vehicle:

1. A speedo in miles
2. UK-type headlights
3. UK-type foglights

I am trying to source these from Ebay but that is proving difficult. Can anyone recommend somewhere to go to? And a good place to fit the parts/ideally do the MOT (I live in Greenwich). Finally the "foglights" are in the back of the car I presume or ?

Many Thanks.

you also need

side repeater indicators on the wings or the mirrors. The speedo has to read miles and kilometres. You can get replacement dials from performance parts outlets or e-bay. Try the breakers yards for a complete unit. Headlamps can wait, as you can pass the mot with adjustment and deflector stickers on the lenses.

Hi,
I presume when talking about foglights your refering to the rear. This can easily be achieved as your rear light clusters should be identical to UK ones, all that is required is one cable from your existing fog light bulb holder to the same one on the other side of the car, and put in a new bulb job done.
Front foglights are not a legal requirement in the UK but as there in the headlights and your replacing them this should,nt be an issue.
Hope this has helped.

Hi, I am thinking of just buying the UK-style realight (the whole unit). I found one on EBay.
The questions is:
1. Is there only one foglight at the rear then? If so which side (looking at the car from behind).
2. Would the car be wired for this? I.E. I would just need to replace the rearlight unit and it would work w/out any extra cabling etc.
Any help welcome.
Many thanks to all that replied.

You are not required to have 2 fog lamps, but if you only use 1, it must be on the off side.

The fog light is always on the outside (or 'offside') so looking at the back, it would be on the right.
Id give Mercman or Dronsfields (UK merc specialist breakers) a call regarding lights and a dash cluster.
