Hi

Club asia radio adverts 'mercs only' servicing company in london w7 - 'A' service 135 inc parts/etc/etc.

my motor is 53/ 2003 C180 auto - they bang on about 'retaing the warranty' as they are not main dealer

They are based in Hanwell London W7

Mercs only

I found this outfit on the net and called them up a few weeks ago. They claim to be using MB trained technicians, use MB parts and have a letter from trading standards on their website confirming that servcing in a non-MB garage will not breach warranty requirements under an EC directive, provided manuf parts are used. Looks kosher, but I have not tried them out yet. I was thinking of giving them my W211, 2004 model at its next service in 3000 miles so I'd be interested in finding out if anyone else has. The link details are: http://www.mercsonly.co.uk/

Oh dear, Beezer's experience doesn't seem that impressive. Wonder how much Beezer was charged for the privelidge?

Still I know that other specialists can get bad press. I've used TM Motors in East Molesey for my CLK and the service work was very good (though I'd not use their tyre fitter again - wrong rating and poorly balanced). But a mate of mine had to take him to small claims court and won, for some engine work that went wrong.

TM Motors were about two thirds of the hourly rate of Woking Motors, but Mercs Only are spectacualry cheap.

Has anyone else used Mercs Only and are happy with the service?

Oh dear. The link is to a post by Madferrit on the *other* MB forum. Although Mercs Only is only about a mile from where I live, I have never used them. My next door neighbour has, and his experience was similar to Madferrit's.

Hello

I have decided to give them a go and report back re cost, customer services and quality of work and one item that needs sorting by main dealership - see if they can pick it up.
Wish me luck :)

If it's any good, I had my Merc serviced (100K) by Star Motors, Caversham, Reading (Independent Merc garage) and they were superb. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. That's not too far from you, I suppose??

Hello again - car is booked to go in on Monday and price confirmed.
I will report back Monday or soon after.
I hope my experience is good as I do not wish to pay the main dealer prices and hope this will result in other members saving dosh.

Do you know their labour rates? I may give them a try.

caveat emptor!

I went to mercs only early last year with my new acquisition E320. They were quite open in their comments to me because i know some of their ex-bradshaw web collegues. i was basically told that they had no interest in older cars because they could not plug them into the computer and charge loads for a quick result. They also took the verbal p*ss out of other customers in front of me and i heard one of them being very abrupt on the phone to a prospective customer. I hope things have changed there but after being charged £60 for a quick diagnostic with no actual result i decided that they were not for me.

I've had excellent results from Brian at mercstar and treats me straight.

here's hoping you have a better experience than me, dino

I would second that, I gave my wifes A class and it came back damaged and the said the damage was already there (which it wasn't).

Also I asked about a few minor works to be done on my e320, they pretty much brushed me off by saying that I should off done a service with them.

The are just a bunch of money grabbing ash*les and p!ss takers. Never again!!! and I'll tell my mates and family the same...

I'd be grateful for mercstars details.

Cheers

And I hope Mercs Only go out of business soon...........

Thanks all!!

Hi

Becuase of the coolant problems experience yesterday - took the car to the local dealer.
A type service 234 quid - washer on gear box leaking - charge me 50p for seal, but i did not waste my time arguing - filled car screen wash with flid, charged 3 quid - i did not ask for it - they could not find anyhting wrong with radoator/coolant - will look at levels tomorrow.

The price of the service varies from minute to minute and dealer to dealer in my experience.
:(

Don't think they used mobile 1 but the other Mobil at around 11 quid plus vat a litre.

Looks lke i had a lucky escape

avoiding mercsonly!!!

Blimey!,

i thought i'd be polite in my previous post...but here's my true feelings...

Don't touch Mercs Only with a barge pole!!! They definitely have the stealership mentality where cash is more important than service and they're out to make a fast buck. They have a sh*t reputation even amongst other independents.

The nastiest of them is their financier, an (allegedly) struck off doctor with not a grain of bed/car-side manner - a very rude bloke.

got that off my chest then!
