some parts are a few quid over but not worth worrying about, I think the oil choice is a little suspect.

Did he use MB parts?
The discs, pads & sensors are the same price as I paid from MB, obviously the labour rate is lower though, but I'm saving more by doing it myself.

Main dealer will charge anything from £80- £120/hour.

Oil does sound a lil on the cheaper side. Otherwise all other prices seems to be ok.

I get my oil from GSF and buy fully synthetic for £35 for 4ltrs can (require 2 cans as car needs 5.5 ltrs). Even then just see how it goes and have it changed soon as it would probably get dark/thick alot quicker

None of the prices look out of the ballpark to me. MOT at £48 is not bad value - I am paying £45 in the trade, and I do 20 a month to get that price. £80 per hour is towards the top end for Independent labour rate IMO, but they have only sold you 2 hours, which is very fair for the work done.

It is the spec of the oil that matters,, 229.3 to 5 for diesel

I agree that this chap is pricing labour at the top end of Indies, or the bottom end of dealerships. But that is a free market operating correctly - and he has not overstated the time taken. So more expensive than some indies, who will charge as little as £40 per hour. Beyond that it is a matter of what the market will bear where you are - the local dealership is probably much more expensive on hourly rate?

I seem to remember that the local main dealer in Canterbuy had the same hourly rate but I haven't used them for a year or two.Looks like this place is worth staying with then, especially when considering the very friendly service, even offering to drop me off to the railwaystation.
