Oh no, a nasty surprise today when I lifted the bonnet to check fluid levels.........a worrying layer of oil in the coolent expansion tank.
Almost certain that a head gasket is required - I believe this is a weakness on M104 engines (2800cc 24 valve). It's done about 75,000 miles, 10,000 since I bought it last March and I don't believe it's been changed before.
Otherwise the engine is running really well but I'm fully aware that this needs sorting pronto.
Can anyone recommend a GOOD independent specialist with whom to entrust my car - preferably in Wembley/Harrow/Watford area where I work.
It's due for a service and MOT anyway at the end of the month so am preparing for a big bill - and will no doubt get a serious ear-bending from "she who must be obeyed" :cry:
