Just had an A service from "Hart Motors" in Clydebank for £290 inc vat. This included a pollen filter change and rear brake pads. MB quoted for just the service £350 after a 10% discount.

I didn't supply my own oil and they used 229.3 MB spec Mobil 1.

They have full STAR, and can do VAG and BMWs too.

I wonder if there is an indie in edinburgh also 1 what is the best engine oil to use in a 500sl .2 transmission oil,3 having problems with soft top alignment. I am looking for 2 seats with headrests as mine have none and the centre concole wood with 3 switches in line and mirror adjuster in middle front.I also need black sunvisors for 84 model.I have some unwanted beige trim inc good suvisors for 1980ish sl and c.

Some of the other MB dealers are only £199.

I think someone has quoted you £350 for a B service?

I've always used Motortune in Shotts, just J5 on the M8.

They are Porsche specialist by trade, but over the years he has looked after our families VW, Hondas, BMW's and Fords, and the prices have always been very good. I certainly will use him again for my Merc.

Ah but the price includes additional parts (rear pads). I suspect the dealer will have been more put Panzers site looks cheaper and I've heard fairly complimentry stuff about them.

The dealer quoted £350 for service A so either they were trying to rook me or didn't know their own prices.

In the past I've used Ross Irvine Motor Engineers who's based in Salsborough just off the M8 at Newhouse junction. He's a good friend of someone I work with and I had him work on my old Nissan 200ZX and my 740i, always done great work.

He was the head mechanic for Mercedes Derwent in Bellshill for a number of years before setting up on his own.

I called him for pricing for my E Class and he quoted £70 for an A and £220 for a B service.
