Hi, can anyone please give details of running costs for a W124 E220 coupe versus a W124 E320 coupe ? I'm looking for any info on parts, fuel consumption, is one more prone to faults than the other etc. etc.

Overall, which is the better car and why ? I've been looking around for a 220 coupe 1994-1996 with MB history, and its slim pickings at the moment. I have though found a couple of 2 owner 320's 1995 with full MB history. What do you guys recommend ?

All comments will be appreciated,

Thanks,

Mike

220 vs 320

The general advice for W124s seems to be that they need a 6 cyl engine as its a heavy car. 6 cyl is also better matched to the auto box and is v smooth. the 320 at 220bhp is quite a bit more power than the 220 at 150bhp.

As I have never owned a 220 I cant comment on the fuel but I am sure the data is published on the net somewhere if you do a google search on some key words . My SL320 (same engine and also heavy) gives 26mpg and I dont drive particularly economically in it?!
