I have just had my car, an E220Cdi, year 2000, repaired under warranty to cure rust problems. The query is regarding the repair to the top of the door, when I collected the car I found that they had glued the rubber to the top of the door therefore making it impossible to check what has been done to cure the rust underneath.

Would someone who has had this repair done please let me know if this is the normal fix or am I being conned.

The last time my car came back after rust repairs I noticed a very sticky almost clear substance on the wheel arches. When I queried this I was told that it was to repel the moisture. If that is what they have applied under the rubber it would not surprise me its stuck.
What bodyshop did you use?

Hi, I have always used MB Bedford as the have their own bodyshop. I would query this with the Castle Coachworks just to put your mind at rest.

Yes sticking the rubber to the top of the door is the Mercedes method.

Thanks for the info Blobcat, if it's the Mercedes method I'm obviously stuck with it, but I do think that it's most unsatisfactory as I can't see what has been done to cure the corrosion, if anything, and if the problem re-occurs there will be no way of telling.
