The only time I've worn gloves working on a car was removing red hot parts whilst doing rally servicing. In general I don't get on with them as they reduce feel and in my view increase the chance of slipping injuries.

Interesting, i've been wearing those glove I bought all weekend and I loved them. They are light enough that keep you nimble and can still work well, but also keep the hands clean should I need to consult my phone, computer, or do something inside the car.

I bought a few other bits and bobs over the weekend, and from the list in the OP, some items will be getting returned.

Once the list is complete, I wonder would it be worth getting into the DIY section as a point of reference for newbies like me?

I just applied to return this item on Amazon and they just gave me my money back and said "keep it..". I can't remember the reason that I gave but I might have said quality.. They must have had other complaints. Weird.

At that price I'd be wary about using them as they could easily round out the heads of the hex bolts. Try them on something unimportant first...

Fair point. Probably not great for tighter stuff. Considering Amazon didn't even want them back I might just throw them in the bin to be honest.

I've had crap tools cause stress before and life is too short imho.

I'd give them to a charity shop if you're not going to use them

+1 on Halfords advanced set. I use them in the workshop all time, along with other bits and pieces. Always a no quibble swap out for broken bits (maybe 1-2 a month)

I'd give them a try personally.
You may be pleasantly surprised and Silverline stuff can be good.

Hmm... that sprayer I bought.. The blowout valve wasn't sealed and you can' even pressurise the sprayer. Completely useless and going straight back.

But maybe I will give them a shot.

I would keep them, the larger ones are solid, or at least good enough for hand tightening. I only rounded off the small ones as I shouldn't be allowed near tools. Get then square and for the right size and they are OK for occasional use, or at least use them until they are of no use.

Another plus plus 1 on Halfords Advanced. 2 screwdriver sets still going strong after 10 years regular use!

Hi,
I am planning to properly seal my breathers on my m113 and I have started ordering parts and tools.
Only issue I have is the Spark plug wire removal tool/puller since I can find only from US market (even from eBay or Amazon it will be shipped from US and I really want to avoid delay and customs). Any ideas for UK market? Does Mercedes offer it in a decent cost?
Thanks

buy an offset 18 or 17mm (I will double check tomorrow) spanner and cut the ring in half, works well.

Great idea. Didn't think it. I believe it's 17mm but please advise tomorrow. Any specific total length for the spanner to work better? Thanks in advance.

AMGeed, sorry forgot to say thank you.
the 17mm worked just fine, your info made the difference.
Initially i was thinking of cutting half of its ring but i decided to cut about 40% of the ring and leave 60% and it worked perfectly when i was pulling the wiring from each spark plug.
