Hello and welcome, sadly we have another one doing the same thing, and I am doing a big search this evening, the fault appears to be the same also on a 210

These are some Listed faults to be in the limp home mode.

Code 114 shift rod incorrectly adjusted
Code 002 to 007 possible defective ETC

This is the interesting one, and was one of my first ever post and it went on for 40 pages, but it did fix the car

Code 012-013-108-109
Loose connection or contact on the ETC module.
With this fault that happened to be on a 129 owned by Rajinder, he bought the car with this fault as no one could fix it, it behaved in the same way and the clue was in the CAN signals found elsewhere.

Anyway the cure was to check the connections wher the ETC plugs into the harness, all connection were OK but made poor contact in the ECU, with a good dose of a non drying switch cleaner the fault has never come back, and that was 4 years ago and Raj still has the car .

When I went out last night for a meal, this was going around in my head.

Then I started to think, the CAN BUS is connected to this, and in my experience of these things I have found that when a car is first started and there is a CAN fault, or something missing, the car will go on searching the whole time that you drive, and after 5 to 10 mins the CAN will find whats missing once that item is used, and hold that info until the next start or after some hours. The next day you can be back to square one where it starts all over again.

Could it be that the CAN connection on the engine ECU is failing, I am going to look further into these problems but it takes much time to examine all of the diagrams.

When a SAM failed on my car,it took 5 to 10 mins to find things like say Auto wipe or head lamps, if I turned the wipers or headlamps on, the car then new that it had them and the warning went away for that day, then back to square 1 the following day.

I have also posted this on brad 190's post

Conversation must have been spectacular then.

I am one of those that can multi task, speak Swedish, while thinking in English and behaving like a German, no trouble holding a conversation about Hitler and thinking about the CAN BUS, and all of this with my love life in tatters.

If you were at the table, thing might have been a little different:cool:
