It’s a bit of a mess, but I recall someone dispensing nuts(?) from a line of plastic containers. Am I hallucinating? Yes, it’s that bad.

I remembered it, yes, but for all the wrong reasons. It’s another negative vibe I’m getting about the brand and a reason I’ve no appetite for a Merc when I change my car soon. It’s all part of the brand’s downward trajectory. I just don’t subscribe to the view that there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

And my local dealership has just changed hands so it’s not owned by Sytner anymore. So it’s all a bit depressing.

I'd have thought local dealer not being owned by Sytner would be a positive to be honest, loathsome network!
I agree with you, all a bit 'tacky'

I'm also of the view that MB is no longer a "prestige brand". I posted a thread and took votes but, most people seemed to disagree with me (probably those that purchased one because they feel it is a "prestige car"). :p

It does depend what you judge an MB against though Rory. I do believe they are still a Prestige manufacturer mainly because of the way they are perceived by the the masses. Same with BMW, same with Audi, same with Jaguar and so forth. The build quality shines through. Compare an MB with a Fiat or a Citroen and you have your answer :):)

Well, if you compare a Premier League club against one from Div 2 you’re making the same comparison. But does that make the Prem club good necessarily?

Modern benz.. buying is just the down payment on a business plan thats designed to keep you and yr wallet attached to the dealer.not an issue if u lease. Even the dealer dont want to see 6 yr old mercs !! And its no surprise that there are so many cheap used ones about.most now know the ballache and costs of fixing them
For an enthusiast there are deals to be had, but generally they have been ENGINEERED to be difficult to fix both in terms of costs, tooling and coding.
Far better buy one pre 2002 pts cheaper car may even go up,one can fix em ones self ,less specific tooling and more know how info and wriggles available.
