I have a 1998 w210 E300TD. I have had trouble starting from cold for some time and have noticed air in the clear pipes running from the fuel filter to the fuel pump. I have replaced all of the clear pipes, the pre filter and the glow plugs (one of the glowplugs got jamed and took 1 week to get out). I have noticed that there is diesel bubbleing from a join on the pump itself. It seams there are 2 halves to the pump, a section where the clear pipes join the pump (seems to be black plastic looking) and another section where the injector pipes leave the pump (metal). Does anyone know if there is a gasget to replace or do I need a new pump? Can anyone supply an exploded view of the pump?

leaky pump

Hi Dave,

I had the same problem last year, on a C250D (same as yours only 5 cyl.) Like you I replaced all the clear pipes and still had leaks. The black plastic moulding on the side of the main pump body comes off with 2 torx screws, revealing an O ring. mine was hard and cracked. I think its the same size as the ones on the pipes you already replaced. Ive attached a drawing, the O ring is No. 32

I have a 1997 W210 E300TD I had trouble starting in the morning and especially when parked slightly uphill when the front is above the rear.

I have noticed air in the clear pipes. I have changed all of the clear pipes and the O rings with it, and have replaced the two pipes leading from the fuel tank. The clips were also replaced. I have also replaced the glow plugs.

But there are still air bubbles in the pipe, resulting in the same problem when starting first thing in the morning.

Does anyone know if they think that I am having problems with the fuel pump? Or fuel filter (as I have not replaced this as it has been replaced recently)?

If anyone could help, your comments would be very much apprciated, thank you.
