So bit the bullet and bought one of the Lidl oil extraction pumps to change my oil on E250. Now cacking myself that it won't get the majority of the oil out or the battery will drain before it's finished!!!

Good to use , and easy , no more under the car for you .You cant go wrong .Only reason i dont use mine is the sump plug is one with a magnet inside it and it need checking along with cleaning . I use the plastic bowl under the car, and then i undo the sump plug with a ring spanner from up top .The cover under the engine has this nice hole in it so this can be done .So after i picked up a Lidl extraction pump, i then found out about the aperture. Dont use water in the pump, it will damage it .Pump relies on liquid to lubricate it.

I have the Machine Mart version, it's a diaphragm pump so will pump any fluid but OM advises not petrol, I don't know if this is due to diaphragm/seal materials or to put the hooligans off buying them to steal petrol :) run the engine to raise oil temp to max as advised in the OM to lower viscosity and start practicing your Gynecology techniques, you'll get more oil out than you would from the drain plug in around 15 mins, I use a battery charger set to 12v supply mode just for peace of mind.

Odd just bought one this morning whilst walking through Lidl for €12.99 don't know what I'll do with it yet because I've a Draper vacuum pump which works a dream. Anyhow you can never have enough tools:):)

I bought one a few years ago, it has worked fine. Only remember it not working on one car as it didn't seem to go to the bottom of the sump properly and so had to remove sump bolt. It's been fantastic on every other car and never had it drain a battery enough for it not to start. Well worth the £9.99 it is on for at the moment.

The management decided they’d rather have a new baking tray than a £10 oil pump...:rolleyes:

I’ve had mine for awhile now and so much easier to use than the Pela I also have.

I bought one for transferring heating oil from a jar to a tank in our holiday home 3 years ago, takes about 5 mins to empty 5 gallon jar but easier as tank is awkward to pour into as its located behind a shed and wind always blows fuel back around you

My Missus wouldn't dream of buying something for herself before tools and cars for me
So that's why you caught me out :p
I’ve changed the “hardware” a couple of times as the management software wasn’t compatible...;)

Oh no, she was safely browsing in another shop whilst I popped away, "I'll buy some wine for lunch" which I did:D as well.
No one knows what's in my shed especially me, it's when I go looking for something that's "misplaced" I find things that someone else must have bought or "I've no recollection" (as politicians like to say) of buying but certainly useful. At least with ebay and Amazon there is a list to say what you should have.

I suppose you need a pump to oil all those pots and pans.

I have the very same set-up Oldspanners,,,,and you will be surprised at the nr of things you can do with the electric one. In a lot of situations ( changing the brake / clutch fluid for example) its easier and quicker than setting up the Draper. And for less than €15, anyway, how could you go wrong?

Wouldn't think that little electric pump could empty 5 gallons in 5 mins

They are ideal portable beacuse of the size with a nice range of pipes. I use mine on my lawnmowes and ride on mowers, flows waste directly into my big waste drum so no faffing about opening and emtying other containers.
