Location of Chassis Number on W140

Hi Friends,

I have just sold my 1991 W124 300E-24 for a 1992 300SEL W140. As per the regulations in India I need to submit a pencil print of the Chassis Number for the transfer of name. The number from the VIN plate in front of the radiator is not acceptable to them.

As per the manual, the chassis number is imprinted in front of the passenger seat? Anyone has any idea where exactly it is located?

Rakamat, Hi I think you will find it under a flap of the carpet that can be pulled down - look under the front of the seat and there is a beam running across, it should be in the middle.
