I am thining about buying a 1988 260e. It had 2 owners and the second one passed away. It was Chrysler certified for the sale to the second owner. The catch is it has 220,000 miles on it. I have drove it several times and it runs great. The only thing i see is a slight oil leak from the valve gasket. The car will only me cost $900 though. I understand anything could go wrong after its purchased and these are expensive to work on.
Are these typically good cars. If something went wrong, that was more than I wanted to spend, would it be hard to sell the car for a 1/3 or 1/2 of what I paid. Seems like there are a lot of collectors. Would it better to use as a short daily commuter or a weekend 2hr driver (I work in the country but live in the city for the weekend so thats 2hrs of driving twice a weekend). Any information is greatly appreciated.
