Hi,

I am looking to get my E320 W210 Saloon converted to run on LPG.

Does anyone have any tips ? Where is the cheapest place ? Do they do good work ?

Should i go for single or multipoint injection !

I would appreciate any feedback

Hi Dan. I have posted on this subject before as follows:

hi all. I'd be very careful about converting to LPG. My nephew owns a garage and told me he is seeing more and more cases of "valve microwelding". This is because LPG is a dry fuel, therefore the valve seats get hotter than when using a liquid fuel, causing the valves to microweld each time they close.

Quote from http://www.aa1car.com/library/2003/eb40332.htm

"New seats may also be required if a cylinder head has been straightened or welded, if there is any evidence of corrosion around the outside diameter of a valve seat, or if the engine is being converted to run on a dry fuel such as propane (LPG) or natural gas"

Don't know too much about it, but it's got to be worth looking into.

hi dan,
i converted my e240 210 very soon after purchase and finding out how thirsty it was! that was three years and 35k miles ago. no problems apart from a poorly manufactured vapouriser which allowed the cooling system to pressurise after about two years. it drove the dealer daft trying to find cause, took about 17 hours and the stripping of the heads. definately go for multipoint and authorised installer as it won't affect insurance. fuel consumption will drop approx 3mpg but as half cost of petrol not long in getting money back, 6 cyl. cost approx £2300 cost dependent on no. of cylinders, but if under 5yrs £800 grant from energy saving trust.
cheers

Lots of poeple are scared of LPG conversions because they dont have experiance of them, but nowerdays there is no need to be. I have had 3 LPG converted cars, 2 of them mercs and its a God send. Get the multipoint systems, you will never have any problems but will save stupid amounts of money on fuel.

It is becoming much more mainstream now with some very sophisticated ECU controlled systems.

Wasn't there a new Merc featured in 'Mercedes Enthusiast' mag about a year ago, and is in production for some European countries.
