After hours and hours of searching, I can't find a suitable removal tool for the oil filter holder on the M278 engine.
The usual 14 sided tools available are of no use whatsoever, as they are designed for the metal spin-on type of filter. the 4.7L V8 M278 engine has a plastic filter holder that screws on to the top LH side of the engine next to the ABC reservoir.
Can anyone please enlighten me as to where I can purchase the proper tool.
Thanks in advance. Will

I searched for a tool and i dont see any .But i did find a company that sells alloy billet oil housings at Birmingham .Might be best to replace it with an alloy one once that you get it off .See picture . Address is MSL Performance 1-2 Armoury Road B/ham .
Made by Weistec Engineering engineering right and it is how its spelt in Germany. Screenshot_2020-10-10 Billet Oil Filter Cap, M157 M278.png .

as above , I have a quality set of the removal tools designed to get these caps of but more often than not I use a big socket or even large grips to get them off as the tools just slip off , right PITA

I would be inclined to go the dealer and get the workshop tool

Halfords do have them, but seller did say he could not find any . And by having this alloy housing it will make it a lot better removing them .Just pop a socket on the top .Thats if poster knows how to screw them off and on .See most of us old guys were bought up building projects up with Mecano sets .

I like this idea, and this is the route I will take for definite. I won't be fitting the red one though, it's a bit blingy IMO.
Weistec Engineering are in fact an American company. Here's the link. https://www.weistec.com/billet-oil-filter-cap-m157-m278.html
The cost for mine (M278 engine) is £115 + shipping. Not cheap but worth it as every other "aftermarket" filter wrench/socket etc. has proved to be of no use whatsoever.
MSL Performance want £250 for one as they don't stock ANY at all!

My dealer won't sell me the tool either, which as a non-trader I fully expect. I was in charge of all the workshop tooling for Bentley and we only sold to dealers too.

Thanks for the replies so far guys, appreciated.
