Does anybody ever try to replace or clean MAF sensor in C180K engine ?
I think that I know where it is, but I dont know how to unscrew whole thing and take it out, clean and then put everything back in ?

Its a little tricky to explain how to do it over the web. There are a few bolts/screws etc and a large clip on a hose at the back.

I take it its a 271 engine (black plastic engine cover)

They don't tend to suffer with air mas problems very much. What is the problem?

Yellow engine light on instrumental console is ON.
Would you know what else can it be ? I wanted to check this first, but there are 3 screws on it and I cannot unsrew the one underneath...
I dont know what that number means but yes, it has big square black plastick on it, air filter is on the right and MAF is screwed steight to Air Filter cover. Am I right ?

Yes you are.

The first thing you should do before you start taking things apart is get the fault codes read.

When you have them you can then make a decision what is wrong. Its no good just guessing until you have some facts.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
New MAF can be up to 260.00 from merc so worth getting codes read first? I had a problem with my 230 slk and had the codes read and was told it was the supercharger control valve. Brought a second hand MAF from dronsfields because i could not see how this could go wrong and it worked a treat. I was told some faults can read different things down the line, so are they really accurate??? who only knows

Regards
Ross

Take it to a local specialist. They can read the codes and guide you to the problem. They are generally alot cheaper too.

Do a thread asking if there are any in your area.

Hope this helps.;)

My only concern is why this stupid Yellow Engine light sometimes is ON and sometimes is OFF. I will take my car to local garage to read fault code, I just hope that it (or he) will tell me something.

Does anyone had problem like this before?

I hope for your sake that the code is not related to the cylinder head problem a few years ago.

Take it to a MB specialist as generally a "local" garage will not be able to give you the best advice on your car.

You scared me for death now. I will try to find any posts about cylinder problem on this forum, we will see if my car behaves the same...

btw.
They charge £170/h - Mercedes Benz in Edmonton. They also said that it might be anything ... Maybe it's not the worst case scenario!

Interested to know how much it costs to get fault codes read. Do they charge it out as a first hour regardless if it takes 10-15mins to do?
