which car? the diesel mafs are only £60 from Mb and they do make a difference, the others are only £10 cheaper and dont always perform... also be very careful..I get the feeling at times that some of the cheaper ones have been tried and returned..
It needs to be a Bosch unit and not Target or other china made MAF as they dont work very well, at 80 mph the car will stop accelerating, your fuel economy will be massive.
Well I had my new MAF and what a load of crap it was. The car wouldn’t rev any better; it was trying to stall at junctions, when you accelerated from standing it would try and stall then take off. The gearbox hated it, it wouldn’t change gear properly it was up and down like nobodies business and as for ruff.
So I took it back and got my money back, stuck the old one on and she drives fine. Still a bit short on revs at 4000 rpm but it accelerates, it doesn’t try and stall and the box is smooth again.
Unless its a Bosch MAF then your wasting your money and time, the MAF's coming in from China are cheap and rubish as they dont monitor the the air temp and quantity correctly, they only really over fuel the car.
You dont say how much you paid for the MAF !! so can only assume you didnt take the advice offered on the forum, there is no substitute when it comes to air flow meters.
Well BlackC55 and jibcl500 are both right. I bought a genuine Bosch part cost me £195 and it works fine, the car will now accelerate and drive smooth. It is still a bit hesitant at times but in the main OK, so DON'T buy a cheap patent part like I originally did. Mine cost £138 and wasn't worth a quid, I was lucky and got, my money back.
